This was the final year for the C2 (1963
- 1967) generation affectionately known as "Mid Years".
Many buyers had passed purchases during this year in anticipation
of the radically new Maco Shark design for the 1968
Corvette. The exterior for 1967 was the least adorned of all C2s
due to removal of trim, including hood script emblems and fender
flags, used from 1963. Functional side fender vents had 5 vertical
slots slanted towards the front of the car as a new feature. |
|
Seats were a new design with the parking brake handle
relocated between the seats. Inner door panels had their lock
buttons moved forward with an attaching screw added at the rear.
New headliner was cushioned with foam and fiber material. The
passenger grab bar above the glove box was eliminated. Safety
legislation required a modification of the knock-off wheel option.
It now was a bolt-on, cast alloy style, with a clip on center
cap to conceal the lug nuts. Rally wheels were now no cost standard
equipment. Standard radio antenna had a fixed 31-inch mast. |
|
Some consider the 1967 the best looking of the early
Sting Rays. The 1967 Corvette used the same egg-crate style grille
with Argent Silver finish and hood for small block motors from
1966. All big block cars received a new hood featuring a large
front-opening air scoop over the center bulge. The crossed flags
badge on the nose had a widened "V" at its top. Four-way
flashers, directional signals with a lane-change function, larger
interior vent ports, and folding seat-back latches were all new.
At the rear there were dual round taillights on each side (instead
of a taillight and optional back-up light). Twin back-up lights
were now mounted in the center of the rear panel, above the license
plate. |
Standard equipment in 1967 included a new dual-chamber
brake master cylinder, six-inch wide slotted rally wheels with
trim rings, an odometer, a clock, carpeting, and tachometer. |
